As I'm leaving, perhaps I'm not the best person to be running this show anymore.
If anyone else is interested (or at all motivated... most of you are pretty quiet), please let me know.
I'm happy to keep going until someone else steps up.
Perhaps one day I will be back!

Also, I made some userpics based on some Feria posters. You can see them all ( under this fake cut ). Feel free to use them, as long as you credit & comment. I got the idea from my own LJ entry, here.

I'm really sad, but I have to leave Sevilla. Next Friday, the 2nd of June.

I have a beautiful one bedroom apartment right off Pl. Encarnacion. If anyone is interested, I still have the lease on it until September 3rd, and that could easily be extended.

It's €460 a month, water and communidad included, and the electricity is cheap, especially during summer. No need for gas bottles here, either. There is a phone line and ADSL at the moment, but that doesn't need to be kept, it costs around €50 a month (which is what I used to spend in Internetia!). It's handy for Alameda, Alfalfa, buses, the shopping centre, everything. It has a great bar on each corner, one of which does free tapas with your drinks. It is on the same block as a large food market with wonderful fish and vegetable stalls. It's amazing. And it's up for grabs. Let me know ASAP!
5th-May-2006 06:57 pm - Hello all.
Well, technically I'm not an expat, or maybe I am. I lived most my life in the States (my Dad's American), although my mother was sevillana de pura cepa. I've planned on moving here for two years and it finally happened in March. I live in the vicinity of calle Feria, right by Plaza de Monte Sion. It's beautiful and I feel very much at home. I've never felt better, I absolutely love it here. I'm an artist and will be having my first art exhibition in June. I'll post more info very soon, hope you all can make it!

Wow... well, Semana Santa was about as crazy as expected. I hope you all had a good time. I'll post a link here as soon as all my pictures are up - please feel free to do the same!

It's almost time for round 2 - Feria! Far more up my street...

Only managed to get into one private caseta last year, but hoping for more this year. I may even get dressed up, although perhaps not in full flamenco regalia. I'm not really one for bull fights either.

Informative & Useful sites:

Sol.com - the basics
ExploreSeville - good on customs and observations
Andalunet - full of information, but in Spanish

I couldn't help but notice that Avenida de la Constitucion is being a bit dug up... anyone know where the shuttle buses are running from/through?

Please feel free to contribute further tips/photos!

I'm teaching English.
I've been at it for over a year now, and I suspect I will be doing it for a fair few more.
I'm working at the British Institute at the moment, and I actually kind of like it.

How about you?
